Our Vision Statement

Our vision at Indianola Church of Christ is to follow God's direction in expanding His kingdom in the local community and around the world by helping people to place their faith in Jesus Christ and to become His fully devoted followers.

The ICC elders and ministers spent about one year, from September, 2002 to September, 2003, in prayer and study in order to discern God's vision for Indianola Church of Christ (ICC). The final form of the vision statement was modeled after "The Great Commission", found in Matthew 28:18-20.

"Our vision at Indianola Church of Christ is to follow God's direction..." Over forty New Testament scripture passages were reviewed and discussed to better understand the biblical guidance concerning how a church should be and what a church should do. Also taken into consideration was what God had provided to ICC in three major areas: the ministerial staff, the congregation members, and the surrounding community. From start to finish, the entire process was built upon a foundation of prayer.

"...in expanding His kingdom..." The purpose of the church is the expansion of God's kingdom by making disciples.

"...in the local community and around the world..." ICC should be involved in making disciples in the Columbus area and should continue its strong involvement in expanding God's kingdom around the world through active support of and involvement with various missions and missionaries.

"...by helping people place their faith in Jesus Christ..." The first step in making disciples is sharing the gospel with those who don't believe, calling them to obedient faith in Christ, and baptizing them as new believers.

"...and to become His fully devoted followers." After baptism comes the lifelong adventure of growing toward maturity in Christ, as the church teaches believers to obey everything Jesus commanded.
